Intimate Fall Wedding in Glacier National Park | Lily and Joe

Fall weddings in Glacier National Park have definitely grown in popularity over the last couple of years. More and more couples are seeing the various benefits to hosting a fall wedding in Glacier. Due to the park’s location within the state of Montana, fall foliage and fall weather begins a bit earlier than other parts of the country. In many ways, it feels like fall in Glacier National Park from the middle of September throughout the middle of October. For Lily and Joe, they opted to have their intimate fall wedding in Glacier National Park on October 7th. The weather was perfectly sunny, the fall colors were showing off, and the end result of their day was one of my favorites!

Lily and Joe brought their closest friends and family with them to their wedding. They held their ceremony at Sun Point, located on the east side of Glacier National Park. After the ceremony concluded, the couple took photos with their guests before diving into couple’s portraits. We took various shots at Sun Point of just the two of them and proceeded to make our way to Big Bend and then on to the west side of Glacier. We stopped at a hidden gem spot along the creek and finally ended at Apgar next to Lake McDonald.

One of the many benefits of getting married in Glacier National Park during the fall season is that the park is typically not as busy compared to the summer months. In fact, mid-September through mid-October is our favorite time to visit the park, both personally and professionally. We’ve found that the crowds have greatly diminished and the beauty of the park is elevated with the color changing trees during this timeframe. The days are also getting shorter due to daylight savings time that approaches soon after, which means that couples are able to end coverage and get back to their guests at a decent hour, compared to the summer months when the sun doesn’t set until 10pm at times!

The part that makes couples the happiest is realizing that the Going-to-the-Sun-Road typically stays open until October 14th, so getting to take photos along this iconic road is definitely doable with a fall wedding! (You can also view live web cam footage of the road conditions!) Big Bend, otherwise known as Paradise Meadow, is a highly sought after location for photos. With its iconic rock formation and easy access, Big Bend is almost always a stopping point along the route of the day for any newlywed couple. Thankfully, this spot stays open until October 14th (or earlier if a big snow makes the road impassible).

Fall weddings in Glacier are definitely underrated, although piquing the curiosity of couples more recently. Keep scrolling to see the various locations and breathtaking views from Lily and Joe’s intimate fall wedding in Glacier National Park.

As you can see, Lily and Joe had the most beautiful intimate fall wedding in Glacier National Park! We explored both the east and west sides of the park and had the most amazing weather in the process.
